USB to SERIAL adapter BUYER BEWARE!!!
Not all USB to Serial Port Adapters are created equal! Many USB to serial adapters DO NOT work with data acquisition systems. Many USB to Serial adapters are digitally signed to work with Windows XP!!
Be careful. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations! Many new laptops do not come with a serial ports to help keep costs down. The solution is to use this serial to USB adapter to allow you to connect to our data acquistion systems as well as your computer. $60.
Why not straight USB? USB has some limiting factors that do not make it always practical while using data acqusition in a racing environment. The number one limiting factor short cable lengths. It is often preferred to leave the computer in the trailer and run a long download cable to the racecar. You cannot do this with USB. Also options like GPS, telemetry and other require serial connections.

EXTRA LONG DOWNLOAD CABLE
Our Data Acquisition Systems come standard with 10 ft. download cables. This optional extra long download cable are for situations that require longer reach. For example, these cables will allow you to reach from the PC in the trailer to your race vehicle.
Two standard sizes are available: 25 ft. $39 or 50ft. $49. Custom lengths are available by request.

DOWNLOAD EXTENSION CABLE
Different from the cable above, this cable is designed for applications where the location of the data logger in the racecar makes it difficult to connect the download cable to it. With this extension cable, you can plug one end permanently into the data logger, and have the other end at a location that makes downloading a snap. (for example: dashboard, near window opening, bulkhead, etc.)
